About A.R.I
Alcoholresponse.com is not an anti-alcohol initiative. However it would be true to say that it is anti the societal devastation alcohol can cause when not monitored.

Alcohol Response Ireland is Ireland’s only independent project on alcohol related issues. The successful project has is currently funded in it’s entirety by the volunteers who administer it.
We receive no public or industry interests funding, which leaves us free to comment as and when we feel appropriate. So far we have been very successful in reaching our target audiences and the feedback shows we have helped many in a practical manner. However with your help we can continue our work to educate, challenge and reduce alcohol related harm in Ireland.
Any contribution, time-wise, financially or expert-wise would help us greatly to continue raising awareness of problem drinking and promote the necessary policy changes to reduce that damage. There has been enough inefficiency and inaction we urgently need to respond appropriately and effectively. Please contact us if you feel you have a constructive contribution to make.
As an initiative:-
* ARI focuses on opportunistic, educational intervention. Through the provision of information, the on-line screening facility and it’s printable information leaflet ARI brings practical and useful tools to help accurately assess the extent of the problem and what steps need to be taken to help problem drinkers and those affected by the problem.
- ARI will enter into partnership with other organisations, stakeholders and individuals when this action supports its objectives.
* The initiative uses its independence to focus on the issue of problem drinking and ensures it is never knowingly compromised
* ARI strives to promote accurate assessment of the negative side effects of alcohol.
* It puts forward suggestions for action on a personal and societal basis. In doing this ARI promotes a society where alcohol related harm is minimised and there is constant vigilance on the way alcohol is traded.
* As a credible voice in this matter we will be concentrating on a number of initiatives over the coming months.
ARI also strongly suggests and urges that the following actions to be urgently undertaken:
* A fully informed, consistent educational intervention campaign which defines the issue of Problem Drinking.
* The provision of direct intervention measures for both alcohol user and concerned persons at every available opportunity.
* The pro-active affirmation of those in our society choosing not to take alcohol for personal or health reasons.
* The pro-active affirmation of those in our society choosing to take alcohol on a low-volume basis.
* Overall consistent adherence to the WHO charter on alcohol.
As we are a genuine Civil Society initiative comprised of people in recovery, family and concerned people and expert front-line professionals, we welcome all offers of support from those who are equally concerned about this issue.
